"Hm. People act. They dress up and act. I did that for a while." Victor wondered whether his hair falling out was what made him stop or whether that was just a coincidence. Either way, it had worked for him. "Can't be bothered now."
He had done it more when his parents were still around, on and off. But now? Not much point to that. Not much point to anything, really.
He had slowed down by now, with traffic being denser. They were in the city. "You been to the Foxglove?" He was sixteen and still putting on the act, so Victor assumed he hadn't. He was sure he'd take to it quickly.
"Nah, never been able to get an invite. You gotta have a name on the list or know someone. I don't know anyone that fun." It was a hard place to get into when underage and underconnected but tonight might be the exception. He leaned back in the car and changed the station again to something more upbeat, not wanting to lose the energy now they'd hit the city properly.
"I'm glad you don't act, Zsaszy-baby. I like that about you. I always did. I look into your eyes and I see a person that makes sense. You look into anyone else's and it's all bullshit. Fuck that." They made no sense to him. Victor did.
"Uh-huh. I'm a unicorn." He said it without a hint of irony, evidently thinking that was a very reasonable description of himself. He was rare, he'd say that much. But there were many ways of being rare. He could sense it with Roman too. That off quality. Something underneath the surface there. Perhaps too much.
"I can get you in anywhere. They won't even ask for ID." Money talked everywhere. Perhaps even louder in Gotham.
"A unicorn? Aww, I love that. I wish I was a unicorn but rich white boys like me? A dime a dozen. I gotta make myself stand out more, you know? Right now I'm just a very sexy and admirable horse. Just wanna be something more." He was very aware that what made Victor more exciting was his lack of hair and unique expressions meanwhile he was just weird looking white guy. That wasn't nearly as fun.
"So, can I ask you something, kinda personal but whatever. I feel like nothing is too personal." Or it wasn't to Roman anyway. "What's it like to lose your parents?"
"Hm." Victor didn't mind the question, it wasn't as if being asked about it made it any more or less real. It was easy to answer too, even if he didn't expect anyone to understand it. "Dunno about everyone. For me... Made me realise what matters."
Nothing much, as it turned out. He turned the corner, basically following traffic rules now that they were almost there.
"Did it make you feel free? Liberated? I mean you get to throw parties, live alone and do whatever you want! Isn't that the dream? There's loads of movies and books about that fantasy! I love them. I want it. I guess I just don't know cause I've never done it." If he got rid of his parents, he ran the risk of being arrested and losing all of his freedom so he was in no rush to try, he was just curious.
"I'm excited to be eighteen. I'm going to move out right away."
"Nah. My parents travelled a lot and they didn't believe in giving me rules. I was usually alone and I always got to do what I want." Victor didn't have complaints about his parents, really. They'd been all right. He'd liked them. Maybe more than he'd realised. "I'm just as free."
"Ah." Oh, this was an emotional thing. He was supposed to care, right? He pulled a face without meaning to that showed how much he cared but he was mostly just trying to figure out what to say. "Maybe put some stones in your pockets. Either they'll hold you down or they'll drown you faster."
With a shrug, he leaned back in his seat and smiled to himself. Nailed it.
"I've tried drowning. Didn't really work, it got boring?" Victor frowned and shrugged, then steered the car to the side to get into the garage for the Foxglove Club, not surprised to just be waved in by security. He had been here before and he was easily recognisable, no matter what car he felt. "But maybe you can be a stone."
He glanced at him for a moment, considering. "Emerald."
"Oooh, I do love a good emerald! Or any precious rock. They say that money can't fix problems but I really think poor people with no money think that. I mean, they have none to fix anything. Nothing fixes a problem like a shiny rock." At least, it fixed it for Roman. He loved expensive watches, jewels, gold, weird antiques that flexed his wealth. For him, money was for display and show - it was a means to brag.
As he got out of the car, he looked around the garage. "Lots of expensive cars here. Interesting." Rich people apparently loved kink clubs.
"M-hm. Membership fees aren't cheap. I think it's 3,000 a month? Dunno." Money wasn't much of an issue in his mind, for obvious reasons, but he did know he paid something. "It's exclusive. Either you pay or you are someone."
Victor waited to walk next to Roman, headed for the elevator. "I can bring guests, you'll be fine." There were perks that came with the membership tier he was in. "You'll be my arm candy."
"Then you best treat me like a proper gentleman." Roman insisted, looking very set on the idea of not just being someone's cheap arm candy. As stated before, he was a sexy and admirable horse - only the finest got to ride him. In a manner of speaking. "You know, 3000 seems like a lot to pay for a club like this when you can get more for your buck elsewhere. They must have good marketing."
Or, as he soon learned when the elevator opened, a very niche clientele. To him, BDSM was just some light rope play and that was kind of it but this was ... out there. He frowned and tilted his head to the side - was that guy dressed like a dog? Huh. Okay. "Woah. Okay... yeah, no, I get it."
"If you pay attention, you'll know what all the elite is into. Mostly getting fisted, it turns out." Kind of fascinating in its own right, honestly. Victor led them down the hallway, then moved ahead two steps when he recognised one of the staff. He didn't exchange a word, but they were suddenly making out, only to stop from one moment to the other, although she kept a hand on his chest.
"Do you want a table, Vic?"
"A good one," he confirmed, gesturing to Roman, "That's my friend. Be nice to him." Well. "Or not, if that tickles his fancy."
"Huh." Just huh. He wasn't against any of it, not at all, just a little surprised. It just kept getting more and more interesting. The only word that made sense for it all was just 'huh'. He looked around and took in everyone he could see, wondering if it was good or bad to be this high here cause he knew he had to keep his best judgement up and memorise some dirty details but also... he was kind of fucked up already. Whoops.
He eyed up the girl Victor kissed and waggled his eyebrows playfully at her, grinning a little. "She's cute, Zsasz. I like her." He growled like a tiger and snapped his teeth at her, grinning as he hurried along by Victor's side. "Do they have good drinks? They gotta for 3000."
"Pretty good. Good cocktails." Victor followed the girl as she led them to their table, not overly bothered when a woman in very high heels and a lot of leather straps trailed a whip along his cheek and shoulder as he passed, although he had to grin when the whip hit Roman's ass. Pretty funny.
"You have sub vibes, Roman." Just felt as if he ought to be told. He wrapped an arm across the boy's shoulder and pulled him down with him as he took a seat, ordering the usual for himself, whatever that was.
"She hit me! She fucking -- hey!" Roman wasn't sure how to feel but he was not overly fond of other people hitting him. Or -- well, it was hard to say. It did feel good but there wasn't even any eye contact! What a rude, sexy attack. Letting himself be dragged into his seat, he looked at Victor and raised an eyebrow. "You think I have sub vibes?"
He had to laugh, it was funny. Strange but funny. "Oh Zsasz, that's cute. You realise who I am, right? I'm Roman freaking Sionis. The whole world is my bitch." There was nothing submissive there. With a huff and a roll of his eyes, he ordered a cocktail with a little umbrella. Little umbrellas were fun.
"Yeah? Well, you're sixteen. Maybe you'll grow into the ego." It was entertaining. Speaking of, Victor leaned back, taking in the night's entertainment. There was always a bit of a show going on, between whatever patrons got up to and some acts being put on. He mostly focused on the person strapped to a cross near them, watching the pain they were being put through. He did find it stimulating. Much less boring, this world. "You wanna be in charge, Roman?"
"Obviously. I'm going to control everything one day. I'll control like 90% of Gotham, that'd going to put my family up there with the Waynes. Probably gonna knock them down, honestly. So it's just destiny really. I'll have whatever I want and do whatever I want." And he didn't care how it sounded, he just knew that it sounded perfect to him. He would make anyone who laughed at him suffer and anyone who ignored him be unable to.
"I'm already loved and adored but I want to be powerful too. I suppose once I'm 18, I will be. I'm the heir." With a wink, he playfully put his legs up on the empty chair by him and watched the show. "It's fun when people scream..."
"Hm." Interesting goals there. Victor didn't know much about Roman's family, given how little attention he paid, but that in itself was enough to know that they weren't even as rich as he currently was - not that he thought he'd hold on to fortune long - and definitely nowhere near the Wayne's. But he was enjoying the ambition. He was watching Roman, looking at the storn in his eyes. It was fun. "Who's most powerful in Gotham right now?"
"The Waynes. Obviously. They own basically everything. The only rivals to their power are gangsters, aren't they? The big ones. Falcone mostly but I hear talks of some dude names Maroni building up power too. Those three would be the top dogs." Roman kept up with the news as much as he could and heard the rumours but even he couldn't 100% call the top dogs, he just assumed it had to be those three in some order with the Waynes likely on top.
"I wish I was a Wayne." All that money. All those connections. It made him hard just thinking about it. Literally. He smirked to himself. "Or a Falcone, come to think of it. Not sure about the gangster life but good money."
"Falcone. Carmine Falcone. He's the only man in this city who really matters. The Waynes are only going to be in power as long as he allows it." Victor felt that was obvious, when one knew enough. He was finding out more and more. Spending time in a place like this? It was definitely helping. "Don Falcone."
He muttered it, then let out a snort, looking at Roman. "You know that they call him the Roman?" That was entertaining. "If it is power you want, you want Falcone."
"If I worked for Falcone, I'd work under him. And do his dirty work. I'd get dirty. I don't really want that." Sooner or later, a gang war would end him and then maybe he'd swoop in but he didn't fancy grovelling at his feet. He was very bad at that. He was a mouthy egotist, after all.
"What do you want? Like, you know, if you're not that into power and all. Is it just fun? Cause I get that but you gotta look at the bigger picture. More power equals more fun."
"I dunno." Victor shrugged his shoulders, trying to think. Or not really trying to think, he knew. Wondering whether it'd be worth saying it out loud. In the end, he did. "I want death. The only thing that matters is life and death and the difference between the two."
He had no ambitions of ruling. "I'll look for something that shows me that I'm alive until I die from it."
Pretty bleak statement, but he said it without much care and then he just leaned forward to reach for his glass, taking a sip. "You wanna play tonight?"
"Death sounds boring. Once you're dead, you're dead. Too final, no wiggle room. Maybe consider another thing, Zsaszy." Tutting a little, he sipped his very fun looking cocktail and considered if Victor really meant what he said. Did he want death for himself or for others, he had no idea but he was intrigued either way.
As he took his little umbrella out, he spun it between his fingers and looked at Victor. "Play?"
Not sure what that entailed but curious either way, he nodded. "I'm always down for playing."
"You want an audience?" Victor wasn't explaining much, but the setting probably gave a few things away at least. But here he was, negotiating terms, all with consent. Very well-behaved. He looked at Roman in a way that didn't give much away. "And you say you are all top, huh? Dominant Roman."
What he was sure of was that there was a lot in this guy, just bubbling right under the surface.
