There was still a lot of debate going around at first, about who Victor was really dating, since Victor notoriously didn't answer questions much. However, once he waited by Lucius's locker after school, took his bag to carry it for him and held hands with him all the way to his car, where he held the door for him, the situation was pretty clear.
Sea watched that without saying anything as he leaned close to where Roman was standing, talking to people. He wasn't part of Roman's friend group, he was just Roman's. Not as if he had interest in being part of that group either. However, Roman had wanted to keep an eye on Victor, so he did walk over to get his attention, gesturing to him as he walked with Lucius.
Roman came over and watched Victor leave, sadly resting his head on the side of the wall and lamenting this sorry state. Lately, Victor barely paid any attention to him and now, with Lucius, it seemed even more insulting. He didn't like him with Lucius - he wasn't sure why, it just really got under his skin.
Pouting sadly at Sea, he looked at him, eyes wide with desperation. "What do we do?" He wasn't sure what but he wanted to do something. "I'm mad, I want revenge!"
Revenge for what might have been a good question, but Sea didn't really care one way or the other. Roman had his reasons, he was sure, and he didn't give much of a damn himself. Not as long as things were entertaining on his end and few things were as entertaining as a vengeful Roman. "Do you want to make someone cry?"
"Always. It's been so tough since Victor lost his parents, he never has time for me. I'm always just out here, all alone, no one but you. And I love you but it hurts, you know?" They used to be so close but then everyone stole him away. He saw the way all of those dates would smirk and smile at him, he knew they knew that they were stealing his bff.
With a sigh, he leaned into Sea and nuzzled him. "Help me take my mind off it?"
"Of course, boss." Sea let Roman nuzzle him as he wanted, looking around to try and figure out what way he could entertain Roman that wouldn't spell any negative repercussions. He didn't care for his own sake, but he didn't want trouble for Roman. This Victor thing was hard enough on him. "The nerds are still there." He had seen them, just around the corner, waiting for Butch and the others to get bored and leave. "The ones that are friends with the Lucius kid."
"The dork and the weirdo? Interchangeable nicknames, I know." With a giddy laugh, he clapped his hands together and then hurried to look where Sea was, grinning from ear to ear as he watched the two nerds try to hide from Butch and his idiot friends. He hated the gorilla too, he got it but he didn't get his ass kicked cause he didn't ask for it. Those two did.
"Oswald is a crier. Four-eyes, not so much. Fun though. Really weird." Of course he knew them, they were from his neighbourhood, more or less. He had known them or of them ever since they were kids, anyone like them stood out. "Depends on what you want from them. One's supposed to be kinda smart. One's a momma's boy. Both seem kinda gay."
Which, well, he had his theories about Roman, but he definitely knew that the gay thing bothered him. As seen now with Victor and Lucius. And the mother thing potentially bothered him even more so.
"That's so fucking dumb, being a momma's boy. Nothing is worse in this world than a mother. They're just -- they're always shitty." With a huff, Roman stretched his neck either side and then looked at both before turning to Sea. "Let's go and scare them. We'll see where the afternoon takes us, yeah?"
Putting an arm around Sea's neck, he started to walk, gesturing forward at Oswald and Edward. "HEY! How you guys doing?"
"Oh shit." Oswald cursed, giving Ed a look. "We're dead."
Sea walked with Roman, ready to take off running should either of these two get any smart ideas about getting away, but evidently they knew they were screwed. Good. All the more fun for them.
"...hi." Edward knew they were in trouble, but might as well greet him first. "We were just leaving. You know, we have to get home."
"Like anyone's waiting for you, Nygma." Sea wasn't convinced, he just smiled a little and looked at Oswald. "Maybe someone's waiting for you, huh?"
"Yes, I have to get home! My mother, you see, she's sick and--"
"Good riddance. Why'd you care?" Roman didn't get it but he did see a flicker of outrage in Oswald's eyes - exciting. There was some anger there. "Who cares about your mommy? Moms are whores. All moms. I have it on good authority."
"I respectfully disagree." Oswald knew this was suicide but he didn't agree.
Looking away from Oswald, Roman looked at Edward. "Do you also disagree?"
"I don't have personal experience," Edward said, knowing that he had to keep his cool. Especially because Oswald decidedly wouldn't, not when the subject was mothers. He knew his friend and his over-attachment to his not all that sane mother.
"With moms or with whores?" Sea was wondering.
"Neither." Edward tried to look past them, tried to think of a way for them to get away. "It's nice chatting, Roman, but I'm sure you're very busy."
"That's Mr Sionis to you." Sea felt manners were important. "Maybe try 'sir'."
"Sir is good, yes. I like sir." Roman grinned and then walked right up to Edward, grabbing his shirt and shaking him hard. "Hey! What are you always looking at?! You don't wanna look at me? It's disrespectful! Look. At. Me." He hated the way that Edward just stared off, clearly not focusing - not wanting to focus. It was so rude.
"Now, see, we are gonna discuss some things. Okay? I want to know why suddenly your bestie is all over mine. It's weird. Suspicious, even. What does Lucius want?"
"Apparently, love." Oswald ducked his head, unsure and afraid but not sure what to give them. "He wants to experiment with love."
"It's true! He has a hypothesis about it. He just wants to find out whether he is into dating. I suppose that'd be it in layman's terms." Edward looked at Roman, than breathed out slowly, trying to keep his composure. "Sir."
Whatever. He had had to do a lot more humiliating things in his time.
"Their friend is using Victor as an experiment?" Sea just muttered it, thinking it was probably a good idea to rile Roman up right now. He had a good target for his rage, after all.
"An experiment?!" Yeah, it didn't take long. Given he barely understood what one was, he assumption was it was very, very bad. And therefore, he had to protect Victor from this shit. Roman started to block Edward in, leaning on the wall so he couldn't escape. He looked at Sea and then jerked his head towards Oswald, just to make sure the little bird boy didn't try to run away.
"No one experiments on Victor. You better tell your little friend that. If he keeps it up, I'm going to cut your face off." Reaching out, he started to trace around Edward's face. "I think it'd be fun."
Sea moved quickly, catching Oswald and then grabbing him by the back of his neck, squeezing to make him bend forward, making sure he'd be in just enough pain to not think about going anywhere. "He does have good cheekbones, for a nerd."
He was just saying, as he watched Roman trace Edward's face. Edward was trembling, but he tried to pretend that he wasn't.
"It's not anything bad! They seem to be getting along, Lucius is just dating him for the week! You know, the same as that girl last week. Or the week before."
"Then why did you call it an experiment?!" Seemed kind of weird. He didn't like it. Roman leaned forward and inspected Ed, stroking his cheek bones before he reached out and tweaked his glasses. "What kind of games are you nerds playing, huh?"
"Experiments aren't that dangerous!" Oswald pleaded, whimpering in pain as he tried to struggle free from Sea's horrible grip. "He just wanted to see if he was gay or not!"
"... Really?" Roman pulled a face and then looked at Ed. "He can't work that out alone?"
"It takes two to tango, right? I mean... I don't know what you think, but people like Lucius and us don't exactly have a lot of opportunity." Not as if he was taking any girl out to an arcade although he actually sucked at games, just because he happened to have stupid muscles and a dumb, handsome face. Edward decided to breathe past his own frustration, given how dire the situation was. "Lucius wanted to test out his theory, that he's gay, without causing any pain. Heartbreak and all."
"Guess he caused some pain," Sea observed casually, while squeezing Oswald again. Fun.
"Ow, ow, ow!" Oswald whined as he struggled to get free. Learning the truth, Roman frowned and then pulled out his phone, sending the information to Roman with a heart so he'd make sure his bestie knew all the facts. With that out of the way, Roman looked at the two before reaching out and stroking his fingers through Ed's hair. It was kinda curly, it was cute.
"Look, I had to check. I'm a good friend. If that's all it is then I'm rational, I get it... if that's not what it is and Victor ends up hurt, I'm going to kill you." Roman grinned a playful grin. "Promise."
"Yes, fair enough! Now can your-- Can Sea stop hurting my friend? Please." Damn it. "Sir."
Edward wanted Roman to not touch him, because that was weird. He was not sure what to make of it. It felt strange, but he also didn't think he could make him stop, so he just let it happen. Hey, at least it didn't hurt. Unlike Oswald.
Of course, Sea didn't let go of Oswald yet. If this was the only hurting he got to do for now, he wanted it to last as long as possible.
"Okay, sure. If he admits that all mothers are whores." Roman playfully put his arm around Edward's shoulder and looked at Oswald as he wriggled and struggled in Sea's hold. "Say and I'll tell Sea to get off. Don't say it and I'll let Sea do something. Just one thing but something. And something is always a bad thing."
Looking at Edward, Roman grinned. "Do you think he'll say it? Are you a betting man? Cause this one has bad odds but a big pay off."
Oswald looked at Edward desperately, unable to bring himself to say it. His mother was a saint! Why did he have to say that? "Some mothers ar--"
"...I believe in Oswald." Mostly he believed in Oswald being a stubborn bastard entirely too attached to his mother though, so that wasn't really saying much, given the current circumstances. Edward's heart beat fast and he tried to think of some way to distract Roman. "Hey. So. You are in a room with 3 monkeys. One monkey has a banana, one has a stick, and one has nothing. Who is the smartest primate?"
Maybe a riddle wasn't the best distraction, but it was all his brain would bring out in panic. Sea looked confused, then dismissive, looking down at Oswald, his own voice low. "Say she's a whore. Do it. I'll spread the word around the neighbourhood for you."
"The stick. You can beat them all to death. Wait, hang on, what kind of monkey? One of those ones that eat each other? Like baboons? Then I guess they all have weapons." Roman smirked and then looked over at Sea, amused by how Oswald's eyes were so wide with horror and outrage. What an angry little nerd.
"She's not! I'm sorry, my mom actually loves me! She's a good mom."
Okay, he regretted that. Roman met eyes with Sea and there was something dark there. "Hurt him." Turning back to Ed, he entirely dismissed what was happening to focus on him. "Tell me about those monkeys..."
"It's-- See, technically humans are primates, so if you are in the room with them, you'd be the smartest one." Edward smiled vaguely, trying not to look past Roman at Oswald, since he had been told off about not focusing before. However, it was not easy to look away from it, as Sea had suddenly let go of Oswald.
He waited for Oswald to try and escape before he made his move, slamming him into the wall. He punched his face once, then he opened up his knife, holding it right against the side of Oswald's face, looking into his eyes. "I should do you a favour. Cut off the tip of that nose. You've got a bit too much of that, huh?"
"Oh. That's clever, I like it." Roman smiled and then reached out, pulling Ed's face around so he was looking at him and not looking at Oswald and Sea fighting it out. "Depends on the primate, I guess. What if one is human and one is a fucking chimpanzee? Cause I think the chimp is smarter, it'd rip everyone apart and get the banana and the stick." He gnashed his teeth at Ed's face, biting very close to his cheek but just missing the skin. "You ever seen someone's face after a chimp attack? Ew! It's so gross."
Oswald cried out and tried to move his face back, his eyes wet with tears as he tried to avoid the knife. "Don't! Please, don't! I beg you! I--I won't be able to hide it, people will know you did it. That's not good!"
That was a positive reaction to his riddle, Ed supposed. Kind of. he finally flinched a little at that almost bite, staring at Oswald and Sea and trying to think again. "Chimpanzees can be quite dangerous, you are right about that."
And his best friend was about to get very hurt. What did he do?
"Are you threatening me? You want to be a snitch?" Sea seemed entertained rather than angry. Perhaps a more dangerous thing. "Boss, we got ourselves a snitch."
Edward had to think of something quickly. "Why don't we play a game! For Oswald's safety. Please. Sir." Whatever, he'd just stick with it. Seemed to be working. "I'm sure you'll win."
